Standing with Alejandro: prostate cancer treatment costs

6 rounds of treatment are planned at Tuxtla Gutiérrez Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

Tuxtla Gutiérrez
In August I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at Tuxtla Gutiérrez Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 44, I worked as a shop owner until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Tuxtla Gutiérrez Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,600 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,300 • Scans and lab work: $450 • Transport to Tuxtla Gutiérrez Cancer Centre: $120 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $250 • Household costs while unable to work: $480 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Alejandro
