Standing with Aisha: thyroid cancer treatment costs
Supporting Aisha through thyroid cancer: medication, transport to Entebbe Regional Medical Center, and living costs while She can't work.
🇺🇬 Central Region, Uganda1,040 views
In March I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. My oncology team at Entebbe Regional Medical Center has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in June. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 28, I worked as a cleaner at a hospital until March, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Entebbe Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Transport to Entebbe Regional Medical Center: $125
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $70
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $900
• Household costs while unable to work: $155
If you're reading this, thank you.

Sending good thoughts, Aisha. This could happen to any of us. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Savar.
