Abigail was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in July. The oncology team at Vancouver Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Abigail is 29, worked as a primary school teacher until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Vancouver Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $8,600 goes: โ€ข Household costs while unable to work: $1,100 โ€ข Scans and lab work: $950 โ€ข Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,000 โ€ข Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $550 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. After 8 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.

    • Keep going, Raymond. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
