Aaliyah was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in March. The oncology team at Hamilton University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in May. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Aaliyah is 48, worked as a construction supervisor until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Hamilton University Hospital 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.

• Household costs while unable to work: $1,750
• Transport to Hamilton University Hospital: $840
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $570
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,290
