Spinal decompression surgery for Sushma: covering what insurance won't
After a herniated spinal disc, Sushma was cleared for spinal decompression surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Sushma was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in September. The surgeon at Kathmandu Regional Medical Center recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $700 short.
my wife has been in and out of Kathmandu Regional Medical Center since September. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Sushma struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Sushma won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
