Spinal decompression surgery for Sinead: covering what insurance won't

Sinead was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in October. The surgeon at Limerick Regional Medical Center recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $3,950 short.
my mother has been in and out of Limerick Regional Medical Center since October. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Sinead struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Sinead won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
