Spinal decompression surgery for Rubén: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in June is out of reach without help covering $2,150 of the cost.

Rubén was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in March. The surgeon at Tijuana Regional Medical Center recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,700, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,150 short.
my husband has been in and out of Tijuana Regional Medical Center since March. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Rubén struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Rubén won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $2,150 goes:

• Hospital stay (2 nights): $540
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $165
• Post-operative medication: $110
• Physiotherapy sessions: $175
