Gregory was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in March. The surgeon at Belfast Orthopedic Institute recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $5,350 short.
my brother has been in and out of Belfast Orthopedic Institute since March. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Gregory struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Gregory won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
