Spinal decompression surgery for Carolina: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in April is out of reach without help covering $1,950 of the cost.

In February I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Mendoza Regional Medical Center recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for April. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,800, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $1,950 short.
Doctors at Mendoza Regional Medical Center told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,800 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
