Spinal decompression surgery for Babatunde: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in October is out of reach without help covering $1,200 of the cost.

Babatunde was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Badagry Orthopedic Institute recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,200 short.
my father has been in and out of Badagry Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Babatunde struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Babatunde won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $500
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $470
• Travel and lodging for the family: $55
• Physiotherapy sessions: $115
• Post-operative medication: $60
I hope life is good to you.
