I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at the Alcalá de Henares Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,700.
My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 7 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Delivery and set-up: $105
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $1,450
• Fitting and training sessions: $145
