Smit's school year: uniform, books and a laptop
Smit won a place at Varanasi Science Academy but the family can't afford the uniform, books and laptop required.

I earned a place in Year 11 at Varanasi Science Academy, and I couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things I need, including a laptop for the chemistry course, and a uniform.
My mother works two jobs, and the list costs $150, which is more than we have.
I love chemistry and want to become an architect. A laptop will let me do coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours.
I'll take care of everything you give me and I promise to work hard.
I'll buy the items from the school's approved supplier and post photos of everything.
Where the $150 goes:
• Textbooks and workbooks: $40
• School uniform and shoes: $20
• Laptop: $90
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
