Sita was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in May. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,800, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,400 short. my mother has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since May. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,800 is more than we can find. While we wait, Sita struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks.
