Simiyu's ACL reconstruction can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled ACL reconstruction in October is out of reach without help covering $800 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee. My surgeon at Gulu Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,050, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $800 short.
Doctors at Gulu Orthopedic Institute told me osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without ACL reconstruction. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,050 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $800 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $450
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $150
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $35
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Physiotherapy sessions: $45
• Travel and lodging for the family: $90
