Silvia was diagnosed with cervical cancer in January. The oncology team at Laredo Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in March. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Silvia is 35, worked as a bus conductor until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Laredo Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $10,150 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $470 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,250 • Household costs while unable to work: $2,350 • Scans and lab work: $1,080 Thank you so much.
