Shirley's hip replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
Shirley needs hip replacement surgery at Southampton Community Hospital and the family is $4,750 short of the hospital's estimate.

In January I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee. My surgeon at Southampton Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for April. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $9,500, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $4,750 short.
Doctors at Southampton Community Hospital told me osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $9,500 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $4,750 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,400
• Physiotherapy sessions: $280
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $550
• Travel and lodging for the family: $220
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $1,300
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
