Shankar's school year: uniform, books and a laptop
Shankar won a place at the Pune Selective School but the family can't afford the uniform, books and laptop required.

I earned a place in Year 10 at the Pune Selective School, and I couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things I need, including a laptop for the robotics course, and a uniform.
My mother works two jobs, and the list costs $200, which is more than we have.
I love robotics and want to become a marine biologist. A laptop will let me do coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours.
I'll take care of everything you give me and I promise to work hard.
Items on the list: laptop, uniform, shoes, textbooks, calculator and a bag.
Where the $200 goes:
• Laptop: $115
• School uniform and shoes: $20
• Textbooks and workbooks: $30
• Calculator, stationery and a school bag: $35
With deep gratitude,
Shankar
