Shan lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at Los Angeles General Hospital has assessed her and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $5,700.
Her current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Shan could speak with the people around her. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $5,700 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $260
• Fitting and training sessions: $165
