When my hours were cut in half in March, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Monday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,100.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by July, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Rent arrears (3 months): $2,350
• Late fees and court costs: $280
• Utilities in arrears: $100
• First month of rent as a buffer: $370

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rent arrears (3 months) comes first ($2,350) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.
