Sergei was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in July. The surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,100 short. my father has been in and out of Saint Catherine Hospital since July. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find. While we wait, Sergei struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Sergei won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
