After a hernia that has become strangulated, Santiago was cleared for septoplasty, but the bill is more than we can manage.

San Diego
Santiago was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in November. The surgeon at San Diego General Hospital recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $6,700 short. my brother has been in and out of San Diego General Hospital since November. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Santiago struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Santiago won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $6,700 goes: • Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,500 • Travel and lodging for the family: $380 • Post-operative medication: $310 • Physiotherapy sessions: $940 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,570 Thanks for being kind about this. - Megan
