Flávio was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in March. The surgeon at Rio de Janeiro University Hospital recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,300, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $2,300 short.
my brother has been in and out of Rio de Janeiro University Hospital since March. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Flávio struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Flávio won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
