The flash flood hit the Sunrise settlement on 23 June. My home was one of 17 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $6,900 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $2,350 • Clean water and purification supplies: $1,200 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $560 • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,900 • Tools and labor for repairs: $890 Glad we found this place.

  • Sending good thoughts, Teresa. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings

Wishing you the best, Teresa. Great idea, hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
