Wangari, my sister, passed away on 9 November after a sudden heart attack. She was 88 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $700 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 25 November. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Wangari to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to the Nairobi hospice. Where the $700 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $440 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $115 • Transport of the deceased: $75 • Memorial gathering for the family: $70 I hope life is good to you.

  • is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Akello

    • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. funeral home services and casket comes first ($440) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Let me know if you want more detail.

  • Wishing you peace. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Santarém.

    • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Sent it to 26 people at work. All the best.
