Sarah was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in September. The surgeon at San Jose Regional Medical Center recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $3,500 short. my sister has been in and out of San Jose Regional Medical Center since September. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Sarah struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Sarah won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $3,500 goes: • Post-operative medication: $270 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,650 • Travel and lodging for the family: $430 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $670 • Physiotherapy sessions: $480 I hope life is good to you.
