Sara was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in June. The oncology team at Addis Ababa Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Sara is 49, worked as a construction supervisor until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Addis Ababa Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,350 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $800 • Scans and lab work: $85 • Transport to Addis Ababa Cancer Centre: $105 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $85 • Household costs while unable to work: $275 I hope life is good to you.
