Santiago was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at Houston University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Santiago is 42, worked as a tailor until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Houston University Hospital 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $6,800 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,000
• Transport to Houston University Hospital: $990
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $810

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($5,000) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. I'll keep the page updated.
