Ruth is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an accounting degree at San Jose Polytechnic, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,700. The registrar has said Ruth can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Ruth has a 3.8 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Ruth would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Ruth isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the San Jose Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $3,700 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $90 • Textbooks and materials: $270 • Outstanding tuition balance: $3,340 Thank you for reading my story. - Kylie

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($55 in total) the plan for outstanding tuition balance is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
