I'm caring for my mother, who's 81. After a diagnosis of dementia Rukhsar can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Rukhsar desperately wants to stay at home. I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Rukhsar worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $700 goes: • Part-time carer (four months): $620 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $25 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $55 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
