Rocío was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in June. The surgeon at Valencia Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,200 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Valencia Regional Medical Center since June. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Rocío struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Rocío won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
