In February I was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma. My oncology team at Rome Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in April. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 33, I worked as a taxi driver until February, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Rome Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,400 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $1,250 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $540 • Transport to Rome Cancer Centre: $610 Thanks for reading all this.
