Rides to dialysis three times a week for Amparo in San Diego

A rota of drivers to the San Diego Dialysis Unit would keep Amparo on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Amparo has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the San Diego Dialysis Unit alone. After a minor stroke, Amparo can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 28 km each way. Amparo is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thank you for reading my story.
