Ricardo's a partial thyroidectomy can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After severe cataracts in both eyes, Ricardo was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In August I was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes. My surgeon at Mandeville Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,400, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $1,100 short.
Doctors at Mandeville Regional Medical Center told me severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a restaurant cook, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,400 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a restaurant cook have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
