Restoring Unity Creek: a volunteer-led project in Nagpur
Volunteers are restoring Unity Creek in Nagpur; $200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
Anywhere in the world958 views
Unity Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 107 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 197 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $200 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Waste removal and skip hire: $120
• Tools and protective gear: $55
Glad we found this place.

good luck, Mitu. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Blessings.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mitu
It's all in the list in the story. signage and educational materials is the big one at $25, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. I'll keep the page updated.
Hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Greetings from Córdoba

Hang in there. Great idea, hope you get there. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out.
