Depok
Unity Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 38 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 196 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $150 goes: • Signage and educational materials: $30 • Waste removal and skip hire: $50 • Tools and protective gear: $70 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Hani

  • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in São Paulo this morning. Take care.

    • Rooting for you, Hani. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.

      • Keep going, Hani. More neighborhoods should do this.

        • Thanks for sharing this. Hope you get there. Greetings from Nagpur!

          • Sending love, Hani. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Blessings
