Restoring Unity Creek: a volunteer-led project in Addis Ababa
Volunteers are restoring Unity Creek in Addis Ababa; $350 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

Unity Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 70 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 74 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $180
• Tools and protective gear: $55
• Waste removal and skip hire: $90
• Signage and educational materials: $25
Thank you so much.

Stay strong. More neighborhoods should do this. God bless
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Surafel.

so sorry you're going through this, Surafel. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
