Restoring Union Beach: a volunteer-led project in Narayanganj
Help us clean and replant Union Beach before the July planting window closes.
🇧🇩 Dhaka, Bangladesh399 views
Union Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 78 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 130 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $155 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $50
• Waste removal and skip hire: $100
• Signage and educational materials: $5
Every share and every dollar helps.

Best of luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Narayanganj.
Keep going, Rina. More neighborhoods should do this. Take care.
