Restoring the Unity wetland: a volunteer-led project in Lagos
Help us clean and replant the Unity wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇳🇬 Nigeria608 views
The Unity wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 30 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 112 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $400 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $210
• Tools and protective gear: $75
• Waste removal and skip hire: $85
• Signage and educational materials: $30
Thanks for being kind about this.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
Wishing you peace, Grace. Hope you get there. Don't give up. God bless
Thinking of you, Grace. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
