Restoring the Unity canal: a volunteer-led project in Sydney
Help us clean and replant the Unity canal before the November planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,566 views
The Unity canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 63 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 46 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,700 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,300
• Tools and protective gear: $600
• Waste removal and skip hire: $600
• Signage and educational materials: $200

hope things get better soon, Juan. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Love from Rotterdam.
sending love, Juan. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My neighbor in Nairobi donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Sydney.
Wishing you peace, Juan. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Praying for you. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in engineering myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
