Restoring the Jacaranda hillside: a volunteer-led project in London
Help us clean and replant the Jacaranda hillside before the July planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world2,168 views
The Jacaranda hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 41 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 46 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,050
• Tools and protective gear: $290
• Waste removal and skip hire: $330
• Signage and educational materials: $280
Glad we found this place.

More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Tel Aviv but we're thinking of you
Sending strength. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best
Hope it all works out, Kinsley. Looking forward to the next update. I hope July is when things finally get easier. God bless.
You're not alone, Kinsley. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Blessings.
