Restoring the Freedom hillside: a volunteer-led project in Multan
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Freedom hillside needs $300 for saplings and equipment.
🇵🇰 Multan, Punjab, Pakistan399 views
The Freedom hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 38 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 47 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $160
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $40
• Signage and educational materials: $30
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
More neighborhoods should do this. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Multan.
Keep going, Sumbal. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 12 people at work. Greetings from Leeds.
Rooting for you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My husband and I read this together. All the best
