Restoring the Cedar riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Thane
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Cedar riverbank needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 India1,664 views
The Cedar riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 71 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 66 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $95
• Tools and protective gear: $50
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
• Signage and educational materials: $40
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

stay strong, Shreya. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't give up. All the best.
thinking of you. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Wishing you the best, Shreya. Hope you get there. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best
