Restoring the Acacia wetland: a volunteer-led project in Setagaya
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Acacia wetland needs $1,900 for saplings and equipment.

The Acacia wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 103 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 188 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,900 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $480
• Waste removal and skip hire: $490
• Native saplings and stakes: $930
I hope life is good to you.

Stay strong, Harumi. This could happen to any of us. Sent it to 26 people at work. God bless.
can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Setagaya
Thank you. If you're in Setagaya I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Ask me anything else.
Great idea, hope you get there. My neighbor in Ciudad de México donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
Rooting for you, Harumi. It takes guts to ask. Well done. It's not much but it's yours. Love from Lahore
shared this with my family. I have a 17 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Setagaya
