Restoring Sycamore Beach: a volunteer-led project in Birmingham
A neighborhood-led restoration of Sycamore Beach needs $2,150 for saplings and equipment.
🇬🇧 Birmingham, England, United Kingdom1,676 views
Sycamore Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 52 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 125 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,150 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $200
• Tools and protective gear: $510
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,440
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you and your family, Jameson. Shared this with my family. After 10 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Cologne.
