Restoring Maple Creek: a volunteer-led project in Jakarta
A neighborhood-led restoration of Maple Creek needs $300 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇩 Indonesia850 views
Maple Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 105 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 176 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $35
• Waste removal and skip hire: $120
• Tools and protective gear: $145
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

How is Fitri doing now?
Praying for you, Fitri. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. All the best.
Hope it all works out, Fitri. Your post was clear and honest. After 7 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Jakarta.
So sorry you're going through this, Fitri. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'll check back for the next update.
