Restoring Maple Beach: a volunteer-led project in Stockholm

Help us clean and replant Maple Beach before the June planting window closes.

Stockholm
Maple Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 64 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 104 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $1,500 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $630 • Tools and protective gear: $390 • Waste removal and skip hire: $280 • Signage and educational materials: $200 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($584 in total) we've started the first stage. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Small update. $434 so far, we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Fredrik.

    • Fredrik PerssonOwnerAnswer

It's all in the list in the story. native saplings and stakes is the big one at $630, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Fair thing to want to know.
