Restoring Maple Beach: a volunteer-led project in Mumbai
Help us clean and replant Maple Beach before the October planting window closes.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, Maharashtra, India594 views
Maple Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 54 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 174 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $190
• Tools and protective gear: $40
• Waste removal and skip hire: $120
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rafiq
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. native saplings and stakes comes first ($190) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
So sorry you're going through this, Rafiq. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
