Restoring Lotus Beach: a volunteer-led project in Mysuru
Volunteers are restoring Lotus Beach in Mysuru; $305 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

Lotus Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 115 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 160 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $305 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $155
• Tools and protective gear: $75
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $5
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Sending love, Deepa. Shared this with my family. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Greetings from Rajkot.
Best of luck, Deepa. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings.
I hope things turn around soon. Sent it to 40 people at work.
Thanks for sharing this, Deepa. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Savannah so I could bring a meal. Blessings
