Restoring Jacaranda Beach: a volunteer-led project in Los Angeles
A neighborhood-led restoration of Jacaranda Beach needs $1,100 for saplings and equipment.

Jacaranda Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This October, 114 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 112 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $550
• Waste removal and skip hire: $350
• Signage and educational materials: $200

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Aubree!
Tools and protective gear is $550 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.
