Restoring Freedom Creek: a volunteer-led project in Lahore
Volunteers are restoring Freedom Creek in Lahore; $150 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇵🇰 Pakistan242 views
Freedom Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 96 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 121 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $150 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $50
• Tools and protective gear: $80
• Signage and educational materials: $20
Thank you so much.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Jakarta this morning. Take care.
thinking of you and your family, Fahad. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Entebbe so I could bring a meal. All the best.
Keep going, Fahad. Great idea, hope you get there. We're a small family in San Diego but we're thinking of you. All the best!
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Fahad
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. waste removal and skip hire comes first ($50) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
Sending strength, Fahad. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Lahore.
Thinking of you, Fahad. Looking forward to the next update. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Port Harcourt.
so sorry you're going through this. I hope things turn around soon.
Thanks for sharing this, Fahad. Gave what I could, wish it was more. All the best.
